Luxury Vinyl: a flooring for every room in your house

Luxury vinyl is a stylish and functional flooring that works for you. It can go in kitchens, bathrooms, foyers, playrooms, living rooms, and bedrooms. LVF is a high-quality premium product. It can equally go anywhere in your home, for both formal and casual use.

Planks and tiles

LVF comes in two types of flooring: luxury vinyl planks (LVP) and luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). LVP is used to imitate wood-look floors. It comes in segmented flexible planks that mold well to the subfloor. The pieces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. You can choose the board lengths and widths, and type of wood that the LVP is imitating. So you could have cherry, maple, oak, hickory, or ash. It will come with the varieties in the grain and whirls in the wood.

LVT flooring is a bit firmer and harder than LVP. It usually comes in a square tile format. It can mimic ceramic, porcelain, brickwork, slate, granite, and marble textures, to name a few. It can be hard to tell between the vinyl and the real thing with these textures and looks.
Because of the advanced technology, texturing is ultimately reproductive. Therefore, LVF looks just like what it is imitating. Typically, most LVF is 8 millimeters thick, but you can get thicker, up to 20 millimeters, to get a longer-lasting floor. The wear layers protect against scuffing, scratching, and nicks. Because of the three-dimensional nature of the design layer, if you gouge the floor, the depth of the design layer would prevent it from showing as a mark. Instead, the gouge would look like it was a part of the pattern of the design layer.

LVP and LVT have wood plastic composite and stone plastic composite cores. It feels the same underfoot as natural wood and tile. The wood flooring usually has a foaming agent that adds to the comfort of the flooring. Both cores can be exposed for long periods to water without any change. So the LVF doesn’t swell, warp, ripple, or curl. This makes it an ideal floor for basements that are damp and could be exposed to moisture.

Maintenance and Installation

You'll be pleased to find that LVF is a low-maintenance product. A daily sweeping with a weekly deep-cleaning solution approved by the manufacturer is all you need to keep the appearance new and fresh. LVP and LVT are usually installed as floating floors on top of a subfloor. Padding is added if you want to tamp down on the noise level. A vapor barrier can also be installed to lessen the moisture factor.
